DIRECTORY FOUND BEYOND DISK SIZE/NOT ENOUGH DISK SIZE FOR DIRECTORY

Image Backup has a maximum number of directories it can process.  The number of

directories on the system has exceeded the maximum.  Try to move to File

Backup.

HARD OR FATAL TAPE ERRORS

Run Retention and attempt backup again.  If these errors continue, buy a new

tape.

RETENTION

Always Retention new tapes (equates to formatting a new floppy disk).  When

Fatal Tape Error or Hard Error is displayed at end of backup process, running

Retention may prolong the life of the tape.

REWIND

This is always the first step in a tape process.

SHARING VIOLATION

In a Multi-User setup, are all workstations back at Grid or is one station

inside software?  If the message pinpoints \NW\Spool then there are probably

print files sitting in the

queue which need clearing.

TAPE BACKUP DRIVE LIGHT IS ON BUT TAPE ISN'T MOVING.  BACKUP PROCESS IS HANGING

Is printer cable connected to the Tape Backup port or to LPT1?  Someone may

have reconnected in error.

TAPE STOPS MIDWAY THROUGH BACKUP PROCESS

Turn system off/on and try again

UNABLE TO REMOVE TAPE CARTRIDGE

Wiggle slide switch left to right (up/down if system is

in vertical stand)  Try closing and opening backup drive to try to loosen tape.

Open door and try to lift  the lip of the cartridge over the bottom edge.

WRITE PROTECT ERROR

Check tape cartridge to see if the "Safe" dial is set

on Write Protect.
