Bad IP address in the ADS.INI or the connection path

Problem:
With Windows XP Service Pack 2 , the XP firewall is enabled by default, potentially causing communication and file sharing errors.

Solution:
Check the ADS.ini for the correct IP address and the server name.  Compulink's default IP port for ADS.INI is 4000.  Make sure under Configuration Utility tab and Communications tab of the ADS Configuration Utility, the IP port is set correctly. If all of the above is correct, it could be a firewall issue.  Make sure UDP port 4000 is open.

For customers using the Advantage Database Server on Windows XP Service Pack 2, the Windows XP firewall settings will need to be modified. The Windows XP firewall must be modified to allow the Advantage service to listen on the LAN and/or IP ports for inbound connections from clients.  Add IP port 4000 to XP's firewall exception settings list and open UDP port 4000.
