Installing Cash Drawer for Advantage software

  1. Connect the Cash Drawer to COM1
  2. Connect Cash Drawer to AC using power adapter
  3. In Advantage software, go to Utility, Workstation Setup, under the Misc. tab Set Cash Drawer COM port to COM1

Troubleshooting:

bulletIf the cash drawer does not open make sure it had power
bullet Remove the COM1 PORT on the local computer where the cash drawer is installed and restart Windows so it will install it again
bullet Try opening the cash drawer at command prompt (see below for the command)
bullet Replace the EQUIPINT.dll file within the Advantage folder (please rename the old EQUIPINT.dll to save)  Download EQUIPINT.dll here
bulletNo other COM port will function using Advantage software.  Cash drawer must be connected to COM1.

Open Cash drawer using command prompt

A:> MODE COM1:1200,n,8,1

A:> ECHO  > COM1: @

A:> ECHO  > COM1: @@@@@

·                    The first line sets up the serial port

·                    The second line turns on the port

·                    Wait 5 seconds for cash Drawer to initialize

·                    Then type line 3 to send characters and open drawer

·                    Repeat line 3 to open again
