What resolution do I use for Image and Document Advantage?

Units of measurement

Please keep in mind that file sizes are important when we are discussing these add-ons.  The limit of a FAT file system is 2GB and for NTFS 16 exabytes (Two to the sixtieth power is actually 1,152,921,504,606,846,976 bytes). Our SW is able to store and work with any size file based on the File allocation Table (FAT) system.  If the hard drive is FAT, the FPT file can get up to 2GB and still function and if it is NTFS (NT File System) almost no limit.  Compulink recommends the lowest possible resolution for document and image. The images are stored and retrieved faster and clients do not have to worry about the file sizes.

For document advantage please be sure to scan in black and white and use bitmap option.

The camera that Compulink recommends and sells is at 1.3 megapixel only.  For document, any Twain compatible scanner will work.

Symbol Description Data Equivalent
1 b 1 bit 1 binary digit (number 0 or 1)
1 B 1 byte 8 bits (1 character)
1 KB 1 kilobyte 1,024 bytes
1 MB 1 megabyte 1,024 KB = 1,048,576 bytes
1 GB 1 gigabyte 1,024 MB = 1,073,741,824 bytes
1 TB 1 terabyte 1,024 GB
1 PB 1 petabyte 1,024 TB
1 XB 1 exabyte 1,024 PB

The storage capacity of a high-density double-sided floppy diskette is 1.44 MB. However the actual free space available to save data in a blank floppy diskette is only about 1.38 MB. If the average file size of a web page is between 10 to 20 KB, then a small web site (20 to 30 pages) with small size graphics can easily fit in a single floppy diskette.
