Instructions for Importing / Exporting Tables with Microsoft Excel (T166)

Always keep a backup copy of your original Tables!

 TABLE NAME                       FILES TO BACKUP

Lens Pricing Tables:         speccost.dbf and speccost.idx

Material Tables:                    mat01.dbf and mat01.cdx

Service Tables:                    serv01.dbf and serv01.cdx

Save the enclosed (see below) file EXCEL.EXE into your Compulink Directory (i.e. C:\EYEMD)

Next you will need to inflate the file EXCEL.EXE you can do this by going to -> My Computer -> Double Click on the drive that Compulink Software is loaded on -> Double Click on the Compulink  folder (i.e. EYECARE or EYEMD), -> then double click on the EXCEL.EXE file. This will inflate a few  files into the Compulink Directory.

Files you will be working with: (see below)

bullet

EXPSPEC.EXE  - This file exports the Speccost.dbf (Lens Pricing Table) file a file called SPECCOST.CSV. This file can be opened and Modified within Microsoft Excel.

bullet

EXPSERV.EXE - This file exports the Serv01.dbf (Services Table) file a file called SERV01.CSV. This file can be opened and Modified within Microsoft Excel.

bullet

EXPMATS.EXE - This file exports the Mat01.dbf (Materials Table) file a file called SPECCOST.CSV. This file can be opened and Modified within Microsoft Excel.

bullet

IMPORTER.EXE  - This file will import the completed CSV file back into DBF format into the COMPULINK software.

After inflating the EXCEL.EXE file you will then need to export the needed files into  a Microsoft Excel Format.  To do this you will need to double click on the file needed to Export the Table. Then you will need to open in Excel the file that was created to work with.

EXAMPLE:

Lens Pricing Table Example:

Go to My Computer -> Select Compulink Drive (i.e. C:\) -> Double Click on Compulink Folder (i.e. EYEMD) -> Double Click on EXPSPEC.EXE file. This will have created a file called SPECCOST.CSV.

You will then Open Microsoft Excel -> Select File -> Open -> Change File Type to ALL FILES -> Look for Speccost.csv  within your Compulink folder. You may now modify the table within EXCEL.

Once you have completed your Modifications, you will need to Import back into the Compulink Software.  To do this you will need to:

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A BACKUP OF THE ORIGINAL TABLES

Go to My Computer -> Select Compulink Drive (i.e. C:\) -> Double Click on Compulink Folder (i.e. EYEMD) -> Double Click on IMPORTER.EXE file. Then you will be asked which table you are importing. In this case you would select L for Lens Pricing. Then next question is whether the item you selected is correct. If Yes hit Y on your Keyboard. Then you will be asked whether to clear all records, select YES. When this is done. You will be able to view the completed table within the Compulink Software.

All the above files can be downloaded from a self extracting file here:
